How did you perceive your public at this biennial (the specialized public and also the general public, who was for the first time invited to take part to such an event) and how do you relate this project to others of your projects?
Annika Eriksson: In my project, public and participants could not be separated, wearing the badges they automatically became a part of the piece Thanks to Dragos Alexandrescu and Ioana Zauss, two art students from Iasi, the work could reach out in an exceptional way. Together we spread 7,000 badges in schools, shops, bars and on the streets. The message is ambigous and opens for various interpretations. But it was the bright future most people associated the words with, and one thought which came to many was; "the future is me". Since the people were extraordinary open to my proposal the project became visible all over Iasi; a huge performance.
I have done several works in public spaces . "The future is here" is related to these projects and also to my video works that have a performative side.
